I read from tubal-reversal.net/blog that experts on tubal reversal do not perform in vitro fertilization (IVF). The majority of their patients come for reversal of tubal ligation, but the experts also treat patients for repair of blocked fallopian tubes. This is interesting to note if, like your entry, we're assessing the pros and cons of tubal reversal.

In most cases, it is possible for a woman with diabetes to undergo tubal reversal surgery if her condition is well-controlled. She should also speak with her OB-GYN to get his or her recommendations for pregnancy.

The cut, tie, and burn method of sterilization is quite common and Dr. Berger and Dr. Monteith are able to repair the tubes in 98% of cases. It is helpful to send a copy of the operative note and pathology report from the tubal ligation to us for review if it is available. With that information, the doctors can offer you advise on possible outcomes following the reversal.

My fiancee has type one diabetes and is interested in having another child with me. She has two of her own right now. She says she has been cut , burnt and tied. She is in fairly good health and not overweight. She is 28 years old , almost 29. Is this advisable and can you give me some pros and cons. Her health is more important to me than having a child but it would be fantastic if it were possible with slight risk. Thank you in advance for your timely response.

Thank you for your message.

We offer four fee options for the reversal procedure:

1) Dr. Berger’s standard fee is $6900. With this fee, you can schedule your appointment and hold a date with a $250 down payment. But the balance is due three weeks prior to the surgery date.

2) Dr. Berger’s discounted fee is $5,900 and is due at the time of scheduling your surgery. In other words, if you called today to schedule for February, the full $5900 fee would be sent by tomorrow to get the discount.

3) Surgery can be scheduled with Dr. Monteith for a fee of $4900. This discounted fee is also due at the time you schedule your appointment.

4) If you are able to have surgery during January 2009, the fee for Dr. Berger would be $5400. These discounted fees would also be due at the time you schedule the appointment.

Your payment can be made by cashier's check, money order, wire transfer, VISA, MasterCard or DISCOVER. Both fees are all-inclusive and cover the doctor’s professional fee, the anesthesiologist's fee, supplies, operating room charges and facility fees, initial consultation with your surgeon and follow-up by phone and e-mail.

We do not accept insurance as payment for surgical procedures. For patients interested in long-term payment arrangements, however, we offer a pre-payment plan or financing through MedChoice Financial. With the pre-payment option, patients can pre-pay the surgical fee without interest prior to the surgery date. To utilize this option, a non-refundable $250 fee is mailed to us at: Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, 109 Conner Drive, Suite 2200, Chapel Hill, North Carolina 27514. At that point, an account is opened in your name and payments of any amount are made as you are able -- for as long as you wish. For the standard fee of $6900, you do not have to wait until the balance is paid to schedule surgery – you can schedule at any time with a $250 down payment. The balance is due at least three weeks prior to the surgery date. You may receive either of our discounted fees while using the pre-payment plan, but the balance must be paid in full prior to scheduling surgery. http://www.tubal-reversal.net/tubal_reversal_pre_payment.htm

Financing through MedChoice can be arranged by calling 800-358-8980 (choose Option 1) and using Identify Provider Id # 3867 or Dr. Gary Berger. You should receive an answer within minutes.

If you need additional information or have other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached by phone at 919-656-8204.

Dear Amber:

You can contact the Medical Records department at UNC Hospital and ask them to send a copy of your operative report to you. Or, you can use the Medical Records Release Form on the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center website. Once you fill this form out and send it to the hospital, we will be able to tell you about your method of tubal ligation. Send an email to Julia Smith, RN at JuliaS@tubal-reversal.net and she will help you!

I was wondering if you could tell me where I can find a clinic that is not over 2000.00 dollars to do the reverse tubal surgery. I really want to do this but I need to go the cheapest rate and safest rate. I was wondering if you could also let me know if there are any universities or colleges who have discounted rates for students who are training to do this.

Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is the only medical facility in the country specifically for tubal ligation reversal surgery. Reversal surgery is the only procedure we perform with Drs. Berger and Monteith performing four reversals each day, five days a week. We have a high staff/patient ratio with one or two nurses devoted specifically to your care while you are here. All of our nurses have advanced certification in cardiac life support (ACLS) and our anesthesiologists are MD's with board certification in anesthesia. Everyone here has expertise in caring for and performing reversal surgery. While you are here, you will only be with other women and couples who are here specifically for the same purpose.

We provide the most detailed information about tubal reversal available from any doctor, hospital, or medical institution. Keeping track of patients following surgery makes excellent sense from a clinical point of view. Continuing follow-up after surgery helps ensure the best care for each patient and allows us to evaluate the success of tubal reversal surgery and the care we provide. Setting up and maintaining a system to ensure ongoing follow-up is not usually found in a private medical practice since this is costly and time-consuming and requires staff knowledgeable in database management. Regardless of the cost and time requirement, Dr. Berger has made it a priority because of his commitment to giving patients all of the information they should have in order to make an informed decision about tubal reversal surgery.

At Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, we have a computer system where every nurse enters patient information before, during, and after their surgery. In fact, all 11 of our nurses contact patients, record data and make daily entries into computerized records.

With this follow-up information, we can analyze and report accurate statistical data about the long-term outcomes of tubal reversal procedures Dr. Berger has performed.

Our patient follow-up system consists of information collected in many different ways and includes a minimum of 6 calls or e-mails to the patient in the first year following surgery.
1. Post-operative nurse visit the morning after surgery;
2. Telephone follow-up on the second postoperative day;
3. Telephone follow-up on the third postoperative day;
4. E-mail questionnaire at two weeks;
5. Telephone contact at 6 months;
6. Telephone contact at 12 months.

Other information is collected and recorded any time we communicate with patients post-operatively. These contacts are usually initiated by patients to report pregnancies and the outcomes of pregnancies. When patients report new pregnancies, we request that they complete a Pregnancy Report Form. Each week, we summarize the new pregnancy results in the Weekly Pregnancy Report Forum of the Tubal Reversal Message Board and also give more details in the Weekly Pregnancy Announcements.

After reading our information and statistics and comparing it to what might be available from other doctors, we believe patients will recognize that Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is the only facility where accuracy of information is considered to be a priority and sharing it with prospective patients is considered to be a necessity. Providing facts rather than offering misleading or speculative statements about tubal reversal success is one mission of our practice. We believe this is the right thing to do.

All of our nurses have advanced certification in cardiac life support (ACLS) and our anesthesiologists are MD’s with board certification in anesthesia.

1. Post-operative nurse visit the morning after surgery;
2. Telephone follow-up on the second postoperative day;
3. Telephone follow-up on the third postoperative day;
4. E-mail questionnaire at two weeks;
5. Telephone contact at 6 months;

Dear Latacha:

Dr. Berger has performed more than 7000 reversal procedures and is able to repair the tubes in 98% of cases. Although Medicaid does not cover any of the costs of reversal surgery, Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center does offer a pre-payment plan for patients who desire to make long-term payment arrangements. We also offer financing through MedChoice Financial. I would be happy to provide you with additional information on either option.

If you would like to forward the operative report from your tubal ligation to us, Dr. Berger will be glad to provide a free interpretation. This information can be obtained from the doctor or from the hospital where the surgery was done. You can fax the report to us at 919-967-8637.

Hello, I had my tubes tied on October22,1999. I am getting remarried and my husband wants to have children with me. I want more kids. I don't have a clue on how to go about getting my tubes untied. Please send me information on how and the cost of the procedure. I would like to know if Medicaid will pay for the cost of the surgery. If there is a plan to pay monthly. Thank you for your time.

We see many patients come to Dr. Berger not only from the UK but from other countries also. With the information that is provided and the availability of the staff members, it makes the whole experience traveling from far distances a positive one.
